The plot for the new building was strictly symmetrical, with a rather unsuitable triangular shape. However, we managed to turn this disadvantage into an advantage, and by connecting to the existing development, we achieved a compact volume and opened the building to the city.

“For the city of Jihlava and the Vysočina region, this building carries a strong symbolic value. It redefines a place once marked by the tragic events of the Babice trials. Through architecture, it expresses a new direction and a sense of openness. The demolition of the five-meter-high prison wall created space for new positive. In every sense, the building helps Jihlava rediscover itself: politically, socially, and culturally.”
