“We drew inspiration from the classic, elegant features of traditional city apartment buildings and reinterpreted them with a contemporary touch. “The house is not meant to serve only its future residents, but to open up to the street as well – turning a parking lot and an old barred building into a welcoming place for a café.”

– Lujza Hoffmanová

The corner plot near the city center, just a short walk from the river and surrounded by historic buildings, had enormous potential that we made full use of. It was partly occupied by an aging three-story apartment house and partly left unused as a parking lot.

Inspired by the Style of the 1920s

We designed a completely modern residential building that still respects its surroundings and the character of the historic neighborhood, including the listed Beneš elementary school from 1925 by architect Hanuš Zlámal.

Our inspiration came from the elegance of early 20th-century apartment houses. To build on this tradition, we incorporated classic elements such as façade articulation with a cornice, arched ground-floor windows, rounded corners, and a consistent rhythm of evenly sized windows. All of these are reinterpreted in a contemporary, refined design with a focus on detail and high-quality materials.

Living with an avenue

The Doudlevecká residential building combines modern comfort with a sense of openness, offering 59 bright and spacious apartments, each with a loggia or a rooftop terrace.

The ground floor was designed with equal care – in such a vibrant neighborhood it naturally accommodates a shop or café. At the same time, we are restoring and extending the linden tree avenue along Heldova Street, creating a welcoming and pleasant streetscape for everyone.
